PLANETARIUM
Research, Creative Direction
Planetarium is an album about transience, about moving, about time changing, about how often looking back on experiences can lead to different interpretations of an experience. Leaning into this, working with an interstate team, we looked for various ways to represent shifting & reflection - initial ideas included marbles, plastic, shattered glass, and even infinity rooms. We eventually settled on shooting various colours & acrylic panes through reeded glass as it captured the sense of a shifting experience - the view changes depending on where the viewer is.
The suite of covers culminates with Planetarium’s iridescence, the ultimate signifier of a shifting perspective - an iridescent surface never looks the same, as the experience is even more dependent on where the viewer is, the angle it’s held at, and even the lighting bouncing off it.
“Sticker” labels were added digitally in post to help solidify the tie to the band & each song.
